A Restored 1880s Limestone Wedding & Event Venue on the Adelaide Plains

The barn at Wildman Farm isn’t styled to look rustic, it simply is.

Built in the 1880s from locally sourced limestone, the barn once sheltered animals. After 18 months of hands-on restoration, it now serves as a sustainable, off-grid wedding and event venue in South Australia, retaining its original character while offering modern comforts.

We didn’t renovate this space to replicate a Pinterest trend.
We restored it carefully, intentionally, and largely by hand.

Original stone walls, exposed roof beams and reclaimed materials remain at the heart of the design. The old corrugated iron roof now lines the ceiling. Salvaged metal has been transformed into custom pendant lighting. Lime-plastered walls and painted cement floors create a warm, grounded atmosphere that feels authentic rather than styled.

Wildman Farm is a dry hire barn wedding venue, offering flexibility and freedom, no required supplier lists, no fixed catering contracts, and no production-line packages. Just space to create something meaningful.

Inside the Barn

• 56m² original limestone barn (4.86m x 11.54m)

The Lean-To Extension

The modern lean-to extension at the rear of the barn blends functionality with rustic character:

• Painted cement floors
• VJ board ceilings with reclaimed beams
• Colorbond Matt Basalt exterior cladding
• Kitchenette (sink, bar fridge, microwave, tea & coffee facilities)
• Vanity area with skylight and power outlets
• Fully accessible unisex toilet

Verandah & Outdoor Space

A generous 72m² undercover verandah (5.94m x 12.38m) extends from the barn, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow ideal for relaxed country weddings and events.

Thoughtful lighting enhances the outdoor space, making it just as inviting for sunset drinks as it is for daytime gatherings.

A Sustainable, Off-Grid Venue

Wildman Farm barn operates fully off-grid, powered by solar energy and rainwater, with an eco-friendly worm farm septic system. Sustainability here isn’t decorative, it’s foundational.
